Our Story
School for Science is owned by Real World Projects Limited, a technical company established in 2006. We develop online solutions to common problems, and have been working in the education area for over a decade now.
Our sister company, STEM Kits by Post was originally created during COVID when we wanted to provide additional resources for home-based science lessons (having home educated our own children).
We found that there were many resources available for parent-led tuition in Maths and English, but very little in the Science subjects, and many parents simply did not have the resources/knowledge to lead their children in these subjects, hence the creation of a service which sent regular science kits out to home-educated students inclugina all materials and instructions necessary.
STEM Kits by Post has since gone from strength to strenth and we realised that even after many pupils went back to school there are still many pupils being home educated and very few useful online tutoring services which make much of a difference when it comes to science GCSEs/iGCSEs – it is really difficult to learn scientific topics from boring online presentation as provided by most of our competitors.
That’s why we offer interactive course content, named tutors your child will have regular contact with, assignments/other pieces of work being marked with feedback given, parent feedback sessions, and, crucially, appropriate STEM kits being sent out when certain content in the overall course has been reached.
This helps to keep interest levels high and lets home-educated students experience the practical techniques they will need to be able to discuss in the “alternative to practical” written papers which are part of all science-based exams intended for the home educated.
This really is a key differentiator and, although it means our courses may be a little more expensive than the cheapest online GCSE courses available, you do get a great deal more for your money and, we believe, a much better chance of your child obtaining the best possible grades in their exams.

Different?
We believe our unique “3-pillars” approach combines the theory you need with tutor-led encouragement and help for when you get stuck, and access to the more “fun” parts of Science practicals usually missed by home-schooled pupils – via video presentation and hands-on STEM experimentation boxes which are delivered to your door and form an integral part of the course.
These three pillars combine to give you the very best chance of achieving the best possible results in your Science GCSE/iGCSE exams.
Rather than just a set of online powerpoint slides (as provided by some of our competitors), our instructional materials are interactive, using rich multi-media. They are combined with on-screen quizzes, subject end tests, links to external “further information” sources, video snippets for you to watch in your own time, and much more.
You will be able to download pdfs of the key information in each subject as well as revision tips, sample exam papers and so on.
As you go through the course, your prpgress will be monitored and a record is kept of your scores in the various online quizzes, tests and exams, together with feedback and encouragement from your Tutor.
Every student is allocated a tutor who will help guide you through the contents of the course, carry-out one-to-one termly video calls with you (e.g. to discuss coursework or special projects which form part of your studies) and mark your work. They are also there to answer any questions you have about the course contents or exam preparation.
You will be able to contact your Tutor via our online platform and can expect a response within a day. In some cases you will not be able to move onto the next subject until your Tutor is happy you have full understanding of the previous one.
Our Tutors are friendly, approachable, experts in their field, who will encourage you to do your very best (and they are all DBS checked)
In association with our partners, Stem Kits by Post.com, we will send students a number of experiment-at-home practical boxes at regular intervals throughout your course.
These boxes contain everything you need to carry-out some of the practicals which you are expected to be able to answer questions on in your exams. This practical experience supplements the theoretical parts of your course and this approach is unique to School for Students.
Some of our Stem Kits are accompanied by live (or recorded) video lessons so you can work in parallel with the Tutor.
